East Coast Storm Impacting Flights at Buffalo Niagara International Airport
A blizzard warning is effect for Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area.
According to Storm Shield meteorologist Jason Meyers, a band of heavy snow will extend from Kentucky to NY starting Friday. The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument aboard Suomi NPP satellite captured the visible image on January 20, 2016 at 19:30 UTC (2:30 p.m. EST) when the storm was over the central U.S. In the image, snow cover is visible in the Rockies and southern Great Lakes states.
Temperatures will likely stay in the upper 20s to lower 30s during the storm, Otto said, adding that areas that get more of the freezing rain from the storm can see temperatures closer to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

The storm could impact East Coast regions as far south as northern North Carolina and as far north as Boston. GOES satellites are managed by NOAA, and the NASA/NOAA GOES Project creates imagery and animations using the GOES satellite data. As many as 200,000 travelers could be impacted by this epic winter storm over the next four days.
“Life-threatening” conditions and zero visibility are expected starting Friday evening though Saturday, particularly in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
