Easy choice: Browns CB Haden wants Garrett with No. 1 pick

The Browns have four of the first 52 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, including the No. 1 overall selection, and are nearly certain to take a quarterback. It could look quarterback with that selection.

Who would you pick and why?

This is the point where I remind you that there are plenty of rumors flying around at this time of the year and that every team is talking with every team to try and figure out potential partners to trade up and down. With the Nos. 1, 12, 33, 52 and 65 available, there is no excuse for the Browns not to find that talent next Thursday and Friday night.

Trubisky, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer are considered the top quarterbacks in the draft, but all have serious question marks and will have to make significant adjustments in complicated National Football League offenses.

On Wednesday, Browns vice president of player personnel Andrew Berry acknowledged what many draft experts have said about this year’s class of defensive backs. The Browns tried to improve the position in free agency, but were unsuccessful.

Timing might work against Peppers, though, because he’s projected to be taken after LSU’s Jamal Davis and Ohio State’s Malik Hooker. “He is in [for the offseason program] and has done a good job coming in the first couple days”. Left cornerback Joe Haden has had back-to-back disappointing seasons. No matter who the quarterback is, this guy will get the job done.

“We expect Brock to be here, ” Brown said.

This year, the Cleveland Browns embark on the second season of what has been one of the most highly scrutinized building plans in the history of the NFL.

There is a possibility that the Browns could end up with both Garrett and Trubisky. There is nothing not to like about him. It is believed they like some of the quarterbacks in the draft, including Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, DeShone Kizer and even Davis Webb.

Here’s another question to ponder, do they pick someone else? “We want to get those right”. Trubisky completed 68 percent of his passes last fall while throwing 30 touchdown passes and only six interceptions. The 2016 NFL Draft was the start of a building year for the Browns.

What are the chances the Bears trade up to pick Myles Garrett?

This year, the Browns will be followed in the selection order by the San Francisco 49ers, who also posted a 1-15 record last season. Their current quarterback roster includes Kevin Hogan, Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler.

“Generally we value picks”, he said. In fact, there’s no clear choice after Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall; as many as nine players have been connected to the 49ers with the second choice.
