‘Eat Pray Love’ author separating from husband
This is proven by the shocking news that the author of “Eat, Pray, Love”, Elizabeth Gilbert has chose to split from her husband of 12 years – Jose Nunes a.k.a “Felipe”.
Elizabeth Gilbert announced she is separating from her husband a decade after writing about their romance in the best selling book, “Eat, Pray, Love”. She expresses that the divorce is very amicable and the reasons behind the decision are very personal. “Our reasons are very personal”, she shared on Facebook.
“At this time of transition, I hope you will respect our privacy”, Gilbert wrote.
Gilbert ended the note by sharing a poem titled “Failing and Flying” by Jack Gilbert, which helped her cope during the hard times in her life.
While it may not be the storybook ending couples wish for, Gilbert made clear that she and Nunes, whom she married in 2007, will part as friends.
Elizabeth Gilbert rose to fame after her travel memoir, Eat, Pray Love, received critical acclamation and worldwide attention.
In the book and movie adaptation, Gilbert wrote about her trips to Italy, India and Bali and how she met her estranged husband, who was played in the film by Javier Bardem.
Many fans were left grief stricken and heartbroken after reading about the news of the split, which Gilbert herself posted on her Facebook account. In Bali she met Nunes, who was called Felipe in the book.
Last August, they shuttered the East Asian decorative imports store they ran together in Frenchtown, New Jersey, named Two Buttons.
‘We’ve settled into something that’s very nourishing and very sweet.
“It was great and a really fun project, but my husband and I share this similar trait where once we’ve made or built something, we no longer have any interest in it”, Gilbert said.
