She revealed how she wanted to make the stand, last Saturday, after suffering from an eating disorder in her teens and twenties.
Jae said the prevalence of eating-disorders and self-esteem issues were growing.
“It warmed my heart to know his children and others would grow up understanding the impact of this global issue and have a feeling of contribution after drawing a love heart on my body”.
The video ends with a statistic from the Centre For Appearance Research 2012 saying 60% of adults report feeling ashamed of the way they look.
Since its upload on Friday the minute-and-a-half long video has received over 70,000 views and is racking up more each day.
Jae West, who has had an eating disorder and low self-esteem, stands in her bra and knickers with love hearts drawn on her in London’s Piccadilly Circus. She said “heart was racing” and she was afraid of being “ridiculed” in public.
She explained the extraordinary feeling of having members of the general public support her and her message.
She later wrote: “As my clothes fell to the ground and I placed the blindfold over my eyes, I could feel a shift of attention and confusion stirring in the air”.
