So much so that in 2011, Audigier was able to sell the brand for $62 million and stay on as its chief designer.
Christian Audigier, who was the head designer at Ed Hardy, passed away yesterday at the age of 57 in Los Angeles.
He allegedly told TMZ at the time that he had been battling the blood disorder Myelodyspalstic Syndrome since January.

French fashion designer Christian Audigier has died.
Audigier had reportedly been undergoing cancer treatments since April.
During his career he won over countless celebrities with his clothing and style knowledge, with famous fans in the form of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. “Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed”, Michele said. MDS is the same disease “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts suffered from in 2012 and 2013.
Born in France in 1958, Christian Audigier worked for a number of labels throughout his early 20s, including Levis, Diesel, and Bisou Bisou, while he also helped to popularise the Von Dutch brand. Ex- reality star Jon Gosselin also took a liking to Ed Hardy’s flashier designs at the peak of his “fame” (around 2009).
Christian, whose fashion empire is said to be worth around $250 million, is survived by his three children – a daughter and two sons.
