Ed Sheeran rocks out with the Rolling Stones
While Taylor Swift tour down London with her clique, and Kanye West putting on a god-like performance in Glastonbury, Ed Sheeran was making headline news in Kansas City.
More than 50,000 people filled Arrowhead Stadium over the weekend for The Rolling Stones concert.
Although the Stones said they decided on “Beast of Burden” after “days of discussion”, Sheeran and Mick Jagger joked earlier that they’d been rehearsing a cover of Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” instead.
The Rolling Stones have been pulling out all the stops on their North American “Zip Code” Tour, bringing special guests onstage to dazzle the audience while digging deep into its career-spanning catalogue to play rarities and fan favorites. Ed is also in the middle of his own, mostly-sold out X tour, set to finish at the end of July in Dublin.
Sheeran got a call from Mick Jagger asking him to perform with the band on the track, and although he spent time with the band learning the song, the full sense of the occasion didn’t sink in until he was on the stage. It will be a documentary. “But it’s just going to be a one-off thing”, said Sheeran, according to ContactMusic.
