Eddie Howe: Players must be courageous for Premier League
Seven years ago, a soccer team whose existence dates back to 1899 were 90 minutes away from being relegated from the fourth tier of English Soccer, and ceasing to exist entirely.
And after Tomlin wrapped up a three-year deal on the south coast, Howe revealed that the No. 10 is a player he’s long admired and one who he believes has a point to prove in the Premier League. Their victory over Charlton Athletic, coupled with fellow promoted club Watford’s draw against Sheffield Wednesday, ensured they would enter the Premier League as champions.
For their first game in the primaries, Eddie Howe’s boys will face an experienced team in Aston Villa, who are coached by esteemed manager Tim Sherwood.
The acquisition of the experienced-but-sluggish centre-back demonstrates that Howe must be anticipating that Bournemouth will spent at least a portion of the coming campaign “bedding in” and absorbing pressure, before launching forth in counter attack.
“I also wanted to portray their history-making defeat of Birmingham, even though I did take artistic licence by making it a home match”.
It worked. And that mentality and action helped Bournemouth cope with their 2008-2009 crisis.
This is no footballer’s graveyard, then, and playing is still his passion at the well-weathered age of 37, two weeks younger than his new manager, with 457 Premier League appearances behind him.
“The administrator said to me, ‘I need a check for the wages, ‘ which was 100,000 pounds at the time, ‘and if you can’t do it or aren’t prepared to do it I will liquidate the club on air at this press conference, ‘” Mostyn said.
A group of supporters put their money in their pockets to keep the club alive and they are reaping the rewards. “Since we got promoted, the biggest change I have seen is that things are a lot easier to get when you are in the Premier League, so many people want to come and speak to you, offering cars, watches, clothes”.
The players on Bournemouth’s roster are nowhere near the same tax bracket as Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney.
Whilst Villa have lost two key men in Christian Benteke and club captain Fabian Delph they’ve made some quality additions to their squad. Ipswich’s exceptional rightback Tyrone Mings has been brought in for a club record fee of £8 million. Players such as Ian Harte, Josh McQuoid, Darryl Flavahan, Mohamed Coulibaly, Joe Partington, Miles Addison, Ryan Fraser, Brett Pitman and Jayden Stockley have all left the club to make way for the aforementioned signings.
Regardless of how they fare this season, Bournemouth are set to win in so many ways.
.
The Foxes seemed on their way out of the top flight at the first attempt last season when they were in the bottom three for most of the campaign, before an astonishing run of form late in the day saw them finish a barely-believable 14th.
The only other meeting between the teams was in the FA Cup last season where Villa finished 2-1 winners.
“I am a very committed player and like to create goals and get the fans on the edge of their seats”.
For Aston Villa, the club must get off to a better start in 2015-16 if they want to avoid another relegation scrap at season’s end. I tried to persuade Richard Scudamore, the Premier league chief executive, that we had a micro-climate in Bournemouth, and our pitch was always playable, but he wasn’t having it. Those lifelong Bournemouth fans at Monday’s forum would heartily agree.
