Eddie Redmayne’s ‘The Danish Girl’ Trailer
If Redmayne’s transformation is the obvious story, Lucinda Coxon’s (The Crimson Petal And The White) script looks like offering plenty of nuance to this true-life story of transformation and identity.
In “The Danish Girl”, Redmayne plays Einar Wegener, who in the 1930s became one of the first recipients of gender reassignment surgery and renamed herself Lili Elbe. Just from this brief clip alone, we get to take an emotional journey as he inhabits two very different roles within the same body. She was the first ever person to undergo a succesful gender reassigment surgery to live openly as a woman in 1930s Paris.
In an interview Eddie has given out earlier this month, he shared that in order to prepare for the role; he actually spent three years interacting and connecting to the transgender community.
Following the trailer yesterday, the movie will debut at the Venice Film Festival this coming weekend and will hit theaters for a limited release at the end of November.
