Eddie Redmayne ‘Wins’ Razzie Ahead Of Oscars
And so Redmayne hit the carpet on Friday night at the Film is GREAT bash, which celebrated British nominees of the Academy Awards at the Los Angeles hotspot, Fig & Olive. “I did what I thought was a bold performance, but I think it was a bit disastrous”, he joked.
“I jumped at it, “Can I be involved” and he said, “Woah calm down, it’s taken 12 years to get it made already” and it took another four to get it made so it’s thrilling to be here”.
The Danish Girl star, who discovered he had become a first-time uncle hours before the Oscars on Sunday (28Feb16), told reporters on the red carpet he was “terrified” about the prospect of fatherhood. “I’m going to be honest”.
Speaking to ABC’s Robin Roberts, Eddie commented: “I’m so inappropriately dressed, though, because past year it rained and I was anxious it would rain again so I wore velvet and now I’m sweating like a fiend”.
But he’ll be concentrating on soaking in the fun “circus” that is the star-studded ceremony, which he will be attending with his pregnant wife Hannah Bagshawe.
“Redmayne, nominated for his role as transgender artist Lili Elbe, was also vocal in his support for Swedish talent Alicia Vikander to win Best Supporting Actress at the Critics” Choice Awards in January, for her role as the supportive wife of Eddie as Lili in The Danish Girl.
Eddie Redmayne celebrates other Oscar nominees, indeed, but the limelight hasn’t strayed far from last year’s Best Male Actor award victor.
“Do you know what?” he told us.
“I read it in one sitting and I just remember being profoundly moved by it, like nothing I’d ever read before”.
Redmayne admitted he and Corden first met when they were 10 years old in a drama club. “It’s been an wonderful year and I’ve been very, very lucky”.
