Edelman lost for season with broken foot
In place of Edelman, Patriots wide receivers Danny Amendola and Aaron Dobson are now expected to play larger roles, although a few New England fans were wishing ex-Pat Wes Welker, who recently signed with the St. Louis Rams, would’ve been available.
Just as Stephen Gostkowski was lining up for his 54-yard game-winning field goal attempt, one of the passengers chose to get out his phone and record everyone’s reaction to the kick.
Manning, as sharp as ever in the first half, hit Dwayne Harris in the back left corner of the end zone for a 17-10 halftime edge. In this instance though, unlike in the painful and avoidable losses to the Cowboys, Falcons, and Saints, the Giants were more victims of the breaks and of the Patriots’ better execution than of their own late-game play-calling mistakes.
It may take a while before the wide receiver returns and the Patriots are certainly hoping that they can use the remaining talent they have on their team to compensate for his loss. It was tough as it was, but it would have been an even tougher kick.
It was the second time in three games Big Blue lost on a long last second field goal, the third time this season the last play of the game beat them, and fourth time they failed to hold a fourth quarter lead to win.
Were Beckham’s catch to have stood, Tom Brady and the Patriots would have had just two minutes and one timeout to score a touchdown, and then convert a 2-point conversion.
Tom Brady lamented the injury to Julian Edelman after the New England Patriots’ dramatic last-second win over the NY Giants on Sunday.
“There’s nothing that’s really seamless when you lose a great player”, Brady told WEEI Radio in Boston in his weekly Monday interview. “You can’t leave it up to the refs to make any kind of call, at the end of the day it’s all on us, and that was on me”.
Last week, shifty back Dion Lewis went down with an ACL injury. “And I’ve got a lot of confidence in Brandon LaFell”. Much of that will likely go to Danny Amendola, who becomes an immediate waiver-wire target in all leagues.
“I mean, you just can’t (replace a single player)”. But our game definitely shows a few matchups and a few of the things and how Buffalo adjusted to certain things that we did.
According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, Edelman underwent surgery on Monday to have a screw inserted into his foot.
Now here we are again. He allowed Malcolm Butler to knock the ball out of his hands after thinking it was a TD because he had two feet down.
During the second quarter, Edelman took a low tackle after a catch, and fell to the ground.
“I met him at the Grammys, and we had a brief conversation”, Butler said, the pair also reconnecting Sunday night at MetLife. “We’re both out there on the field, playing the same game we love, and both out there competing”.
