Edin Dzeko joins Roma from Man City on loan
The Serie A club will pay City €4million (£2.87m) for the season, and will then pay another €11m (£7.88m) to make the transfer permanent if certain conditions are met.
Džeko told Roma TV: “I came here to win titles with Roma“.
The forward will now move to Italy to link up with Rudi Garcia’s side as he starts his new journey in the Italian capital – a move which will be seen as a shrewd one by the Serie A giants.
Roma loaned Antonio Sanabria to Sporting Gijon yesterday, freeing up a non-EU space for the Manchester City striker.
Wilfried Bony was signed in January and starred in the Citizens’ EPL opener against West Bromwich Albion, while new boy Raheem Sterling should provide goals himself and effective service for leading man Sergio Aguero. During the latter’s triumph-in the 2013-14 campaign, he bagged 16 goals in 31 outings, while he scored 14 in 30 in the 2011-12 season. He will be a very good player for Roma and he will have a successful season.
Dzeko, 29, has spent the past four seasons at the Etihad after arriving from Wolfsburg. “I send him the best wishes”.
Dzeko’s departure means that City have raised nearly £50m from transfers arranged in 2015.
In addition, Alvaro Negredo completed a permanent move to Valencia but that was guaranteed as part of the terms of his loan move in 2014.
