Edinson Cavani, Julian Draxler Targeted Before Deadline — Arsenal Transfer News
Former Arsenal players have added their voices to the chorus urging Wenger to spend. Sevilla player Grzegorz Krychowiak has been linked with a £21.2m move, as has Real Madrid youngster Lucas Silva. But the forward’s public statement on social media earlier this week that he was staying at the Bernabeu has, Wenger admitted, killed any hope the Gunners had of bringing in the France global.
Arsenal are said to have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain on Monday, 31 August, on signing Edinson Cavani and Adrien Rabiot before the transfer window closes on Tuesday at 6pm UK time. The Uruguay global has been frequently linked with the Gunners in the past year or so, fueled by Cavani showing frustration at being regularly played out of position since signing from Napoli in 2013.
Wenger is understood to be a fan of Cavani, and the 28 yr olds goalscoring document at PSG is spectacular. However Kyiv are minded to sell him now for a smaller fraction of his market value, and he could be allowed to leave for as little as £8.7m, according to the Daily Express.
Wenger’s late curiosity in Cavani may have been strengthened by Inter Milan’s choice to reject a switch supply for his or her ahead Mauro Icardi. The name of Julian Draxler has made a reappearance in the rumors pages, 18 months after Arsenal came close to signing the gifted attacking midfielder from Schalke.
The Mirror recently reported Arsenal’s interest in Bender, and considering the club have somewhat of a German contingent in North London, he is an obvious target who would represent good business.
The report also states the FA Cup holders have held talks with Cavani as well as his teammate Rabiot as Wenger looks to provide adequate cover for Francis Coquelin in the defensive midfield department.
Arsenal welcome Stoke City at the Emirates after the worldwide break ends.
He has four years remaining on his current deal at Petrovsky Stadium.
