Edmonton Oilers sign goaltender Cam Talbot to three-year extension
ABOUT THE FLAMES (20-20-2): Michael Frolik, who recorded a hat trick in Calgary’s 5-4 win over Edmonton on October 31, is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday following a 12-game absence due to an upper-body injury.
Goalie Cam Talbot has signed up for three more years with the Edmonton Oilers. “Other than that, we had lots of chances, lots of second and third chances, but (Jonas) Hiller played solid, so it was good to get that one by him”.
A clutch showing from Talbot, who was beaten just once in the first period by Sam Bennett. “I knew I felt confident playing in this league and now I think I took another step in the right direction”.
“He kept us in the game all night long and made huge saves”, Giordano said.
The Oilers, outshot 14-8 in the first, picked up the pace in the second period and took a 22-19 lead in shots after 40 minutes, but the score remained 1-0 at the end of the period.
Flames next action is Tuesday, January 19th, when they head to New Jersey to face the Devils.
Although Calgary posted a franchise-best 11-game home winning streak earlier this season, the Flames have enjoyed a few good times when making the short trek to visit their provincial rival as well.
