Eduardo Nunez traded to the Giants
Minor league starter Adalberto Mejia is reportedly heading back to Minnesota in the trade.
The San Franciso Giants have added strength to their team as they announced on Thursday night they have acquired Twins infielder Eduardo Nunez, as first reported by LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star- Tribune.
Nunez, 29, is expected to move between the infield and outfield for his new club.
He leaves the Twins leading the American League in stolen bases.
Mejia, 23, is one of the Giants’ best prospects. During the 2016 season, he has pitched to a 7-3 record with a 2.81 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP in 18 starts.
Nunez maximized his potential this season so far, batting.
Evans said infielder Ehire Adrianza, who is on a rehab assignment, also will rejoin the Giants on their next road trip, probably in Philadelphia. Until tonight, and as recently as July 17, when both are in the lineup, Escobar has been the shortstop and Nunez has shifted to third base.
Few Nationals are hotter right now than Turner, who has hits in nine of his 10 game appearances since the All-Star break and has reached base in all 10. And he was the Twins’ best offensive player, having hit 12 home runs (while playing home games at cavernous Target Field) and swiping 27 bases. Polanco is hitting. 231 in 26 at-bats with the Twins this season but was hitting. In a trade that made the Twins give up their only all-star, Eduardo Nunez, the team said they’ve got what they’ve been looking for.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – The Minnesota Wild and defenseman Matt Dumba have agreed to terms on a two-year, $5.1 million contract. “It’s an opportunity to go out there and contribute to a team that’s trying to set its sights fairly high”. 283 batting average, along with a second-worst 137 home runs allowed already this season.
Nunez will likely slot into the starting third base role until Duffy returns.
