Ego Ferguson (knee) placed on season-ending IR
The Bears had listed Ferguson as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field with a knee injury. Ferguson was limited in practice on Wednesday, held out Thursday & Friday, and then placed on the IR today effectively ending his season. He appeared in four games and started at end in the Week 4 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Since the Bears signed Gaston off another teams practice squad they will need to keep him on the active roster for at least three weeks. This preseason for Green Bay, Gaston had 3 tackles, a sack and 4 quarterback hits.
Gaston, who is 6-2, 310 pounds, appeared in two games this season for the Packers, making one tackle.
Gaston went undrafted and opted to sign with Cardinals as a rookie free agent. When they promoted Abbrederis from the practice squad, they released Gaston. The Bears selected Ferguson in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He appeared in two games with the Green Bay Packers this season, and played his high school football at St. Rita of Cascia High School. The Bears now have a total of nine players on IR.
