“The problem has been that in their initial military incursion into Syria, they’ve been more focused on propping up Mr. Assad and targeting the modern opposition as opposed to targeting those folks that threaten us, Europe, and Russian Federation as well”. As of early this morning, however, it was unclear whether any bomb was in fact present, after officials denied an earlier newspaper report saying that security officials had found an ambulance stuffed full of explosives, apparently created to be used as a truck bomb. The official said this was in accordance with protocols worked out by US and Russian officials in October. “I ask the Defense Ministry and the General Staff to submit corresponding proposals”.
Putin said, “The combat work of our aviation in Syria must not only be continued”. On Monday President Barack Obama personally talked about the issue with Putin on the sidelines at the G-20 Summit in Turkey.
A group affiliated with IS claimed responsibility. “That’s exactly what I’ve been arguing for since we set up this anti-ISIL coalition and that’s what I’ve been arguing to all our coordination partners and those who have not been in the coalition over the last several years”.
