Egypt theater cancels Star Wars showings on opening day
Now that the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is done, we’re hitting peak spoiler danger: there are enough people out there who have seen the movie now who could potentially ruin it all for the rest of us before opening night. More than half a million people pre-booked tickets in France alone for director J.J. Abrams’ two-and-a-half-hour epic, which goes back to story’s roots.
“The story just stayed so true to the original”, while another delighted fan said “It’s everything that I had hoped for and a lot more”.
Treorchy Star Wars fans Hugh Griffiths and Kimberley Haddrell had managed to avoid the trailers for the film beforehand and is hoping to witness the famous struggle between the light and dark side yet again.
He said: “My dad liked the films and I enjoyed watching them with him”.
The first public screening has proved a return to form for the saga and well worth the wait.
“If you were born in the late 50s, you would have had Star Wars coming up in your formative years and some of those consumers are getting to be 60 years old now”, Gau said.
Duane added: “They’ve done a great job on it, it had the authenticity”. There’s also another dramatic confrontation on a catwalk, another wise old soul who urges the heroes to return to Jedi ways, a “these are not the droids you’re looking for” moment, another Empire (renamed the First Order), another Emperor (the Supreme Leader), another Darth Vader type (Ren, played by Adam Driver) and a starting point that kicks us back to the beginning of the original film: the Jedi are almost extinct and the Empire (oops, First Order) is being completely unreasonable.
“It definitely wasn’t disappointing”.
John, who plays Finn, said: “Recently we went to Tokyo and the first thing we saw was a 7/11”.
But when asked whether he intends to participate in the upcoming Han Solo prequel, he firmly remarked: “I want nothing to do with it”.
Taylor Kinmond couldn’t wait either.
Stephen Russell, 31, compromised on a costume with a Star Wars-themed Christmas jumper. “There are very few films which leave me facially exhausted after grinning for 135 minutes, but this is one”.
After the film: It was so much better than I expected!
“I’ve been to the opening night of the three prequels so I felt it was right not to miss this one”, he said.
“You have a 40-year history, seven films now soon to be ten under Disney’s leadership surrounding really interesting historic pivotal points, 911 and post Watergate”.
