Eid celebrated across India
Muslims across Odisha celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with fervour and gaiety on Thursday.
Throngs of people in their festive best turned up for special prayers which mark the end of month-long Ramzan, at major mosques in the city, including historic Jama Masjid, Fathepuri Masjid and Hazrat Nizamuddin, as well as eidgahs in the city.
The festival marked the culmination of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims observe a stringent dawn-to-dusk fast in which even water is not permitted.
Prayers were also offered at Eidgah in Bhopal.
“Wishing all Muslim brothers and sisters a very happy Eid-ul -Fitr”. He extended Eid greetings to HM King Salman, HH the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, HH the Emir of Qatar.
In Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir, Eid was celebrated on Wednesday.
“I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the citizen of our country on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Fitr. May this special day deepen the spirit of harmony and peace in society”.
After the solemn prayers, people joyfully greeted each other with hugs and “Eid mubarak” in mosques, homes and public places.
