The Indian government on Thursday ordered to close internet in the Kashmir valley for 40 hours during Eidul Azha. “In order to prevent its scarcity, we have imported sheep in abundance during the last 15 days from different states including New Delhi, Amritsar, Himachal Pradesh”, Ganaie said.
Most of these separatist leaders had asked people to defy the High Court order to ban slaughter and sale of beef in the state.
He said Muslims offer sacrifice of animals on Eid-ul-Azha exclusively with the aim of performing the religious obligation to earn the benevolence of Almighty Allah.
In an official communiqué to cellular companies, Gillani said: “In view of the apprehensions of misuse of data services (GPRS/2G/3G) by anti-national elements which is likely to cause deterioration of law and order situation, you are requested to completely snap down data services through GPRS/2G/3G and broadband in Kashmir valley starting from 25-09-2015, 05:00 hrs to 26-09-2015, 22:00 hrs”.
“It is a preventive measure to maintain law and order in the city”.
General Secretary, Kashmir Wholesale Mutton dealers association, Mehraj-Ud-Din Ganaie while speaking to the Kashmir Monitor said that Valley butchers have sold mutton worth four crores in last few days adding “In two weeks, the sheep and goats worth Rs 30 crores have been sold out here, we are seeing a final target of over Rs 50cr of mutton being sold on this Eid”.
