Eid-ul-Azha celebrated in Delhi
People in some part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA celebrated Eid-ul-Azha today (Thursday).
The Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zilhajj month of the Hizri calendar as Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day some 4,000 years ago, offered to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah. Sheep and goats were sacrificed as per rituals and the meat was distributed among neighbours and relatives on the pious occasion, also know as Bakr-Id.
The day began with Muslims, dressed in their best, offering prayers at the Nakhoda Masjid and other mosques.
Meanwhile in the Kashmir Valley, clashes broke out between youths and security forces in several areas of Srinagar and Anantnag districts after Eid prayers.
The national flag has been flown atop government and non- government buildings and roadside poles to mark the festival.
Bakri Eid is one of the most important festivals of the Muslims when they visit their friends and families to greet each other and exchange savouries and gifts.
Eid prayers held in Bannu Jama mosque were attended by a large number of citizens including internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The biggest congregation was held at Eidgah in the old city followed by Hazratbal shrine on the banks of the famous Dal Lake.
The celebrations will continue till Sunday, the third day of Eid.
Muslims living in Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Iran, Iraq, Middle East, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, London, North America and other European countries are also celebrating Eid today.
Residents of Peshawar prayed for the Pakistan, its national security and prosperity during Eid prayers.
