The cause of the crash in the Cerro Gordo mountains near Medellin in Colombia’s north-eastern Antioquia region is as yet unknown.
Kickoff was set for Wednesday night. Despite apparently limited experience, the airline has a close relationship with several premier South American soccer squads.
The many tributes continue to pour in.
The world’s soccer governing body Federation Internationale de Football Association also expressed its condolences over the accident.

It was Colombia’s worst air disaster in two decades and there were only six survivors.
Medellin’s Mayor Federico Gutierrez said Tuesday that it is possible there are survivors.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it was with great dismay that she learned about the tragic plane crash in Colombia, according to The Associated Press.
Distraught fans gathered around the team’s Conda stadium in Chapeco, a town of about 200,000 people in south Brazil.
Brazil’s President Michel Temer declared three days of mourning for the victims. Flags at his presidential palace are flying at half staff.
Among the tributes was a poster that celebrated, in a child’s handwriting, Chapacoense’s meteoric rise into top-flight Brazilian soccer: “They never exhausted of climbing, and now they’re in heaven”. “The investigation is ongoing and we’re going to await the results”.
A recording of the pilot’s final words can be heard telling the control tower the plane was “in total failure, total electrical failure, without fuel”.
“The AIIB is deploying a team of three accident investigators specialising in operations, engineering and flight data recorders to the accident site”, says the British investigation body.
The BAe 146 charter plane went down about 10:15 p.m. on Monday night with 68 passengers and a crew of nine on board.
Bolivian civil aviation authority DGAC said the plane departed Santa Cruz under ideal conditions.
Rescuers found a scene of devastation when they came across the plane.
Colombian authorities said they hope to interview the Bolivian flight attendant who relayed the fuel concerns on Wednesday.
The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority declined to comment further on technical details.
Wearing green and white, the colours of the team, they stare at the empty field, still unable to believe the tragedy that took place.
But doctors at the Columbian hospital where Jakson Follmann is being treated said they amputated the goalkeeper’s right leg and that he is in an intensive care unit in stable condition.
The 31-year-old was taken to hospital after the crash and while he was receiving treatment he spoke to his wife – only to die from his injuries a short time later, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
Neto, the last person to be rescued, is under observation following multiple surgeries, Arteaga said.
