Electric Oregon WR Byron Marshall (leg) feared out for the season
Fentress’s source did not specify the exact procedure Marshall received. Marshall was carted off the field against Utah with a lower leg injury.
The Oregon Ducks rarely make changes to their depth chart, but Tuesday’s removal of Byron Marshall from the receivers rotation could last for the entire season.
Oregon does not discuss injuries openly and is known for being tight-lipped on the status of players moving forward, but Comcast Northwest’s Aaron Fentress reports that Marshall has “likely been lost for the season after undergoing surgery”.
Fentress did note the specifics of Marshall’s injury have not been revealed yet, making it impossible to definitively report whether or not he will return to the field before Oregon’s season ends. Marshall was not listed in Oregon’s weekly depth chart released on Tuesday. He totaled 74 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last season for the Ducks.
Marshall’s loss will also shake up UO’s kick return unit, where he and Addison were the Ducks’ most-trusted returners.
This injury is just another smack in the face for a program that suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Utes and fell out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2009.
