With Steven Spielberg’s next project Ready Player One having scored an official release date, attention now turns to who’ll star in the sci-fi adaptation of Ernie Cline’s nostalgia-drenched novel. Likely, Spielberg is designing the OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation) to simulate real life, meaning that the actors cast to play the characters’ avatars won’t need too much digital altering. The creator of OASIS, James Halliday, hid the keys to the VR world (and his fortune) inside the system, and everyone is scrambling to find it. They have also known each other for years, as he directed her sister, Dakota Fanning, in “War of the Worlds“. Jurassic World’s Nick Robinson has been rumored in the past, but there’s nothing official on that front just yet.
