Elle Woods for president? Reese Witherspoon thinks now’s the right time for
But Witherspoon does think Hillary Clinton’s presidential race has created the ideal climate for another Elle adventure.
With its frothy girl-power message, irresistible early 00s fashions (pink, pink, and more pink!), and lovable heroine, 2001’s Reese Witherspoon-starring rom-com Legally Blonde became an instant smash hit and cult classic favorite that has endured in the pop culture lexicon for years since.
From Harvard hopeful to the Oval Office in 14 years?
During a recent appearance on Lifetime’s Rachel Zoe talk show “Fashionably Late”, the actress got her fans’ hopes up when asked about the possibility of continuing the story of Elle Woods, a sorority sister who conquered law school before venturing to Washington D.C.in the sequel.
She told people during her interview to call MGM Studio so they could tell them if there was indeed going to be a new moving released.
She added that it would be neat to have Elle run from office or be in the Supreme Court. Sounds like something only Elle Woods could pull off.
The first movie’s success spawned Legally Blonde 2 in 2003, where Elle was in Congress working to ban animal testing for beauty products.
Although Witherspoon seemed in favor of a possible third film, the actress exclaimed she doesn’t know if the film will officially happen. The straight-to-video spinoff Legally Blondes premiered in 2009, and a Broadway musical debuted in 2007.
Speaking of kids, Times Live mentioned that Reese is “nervous” about her daughter, Ava’s interest in acting, believing that at 16, she is too young to start a career in Hollywood.
