Elon Musk: Apple Hires Tesla’s Rejects
Fresh from explaining the benefits of nuking Mars and offering fashion advice to spacemen, Elon Musk has landed back on earth with a bang. “They have hired people we’ve fired”, he responded when asked if he was anxious about a new competitor that’s been snapping up former Tesla engineers. Speaking to German newspaper Handelsblatt, Musk voiced his lack of concern regarding Apple’s tendency to hire Tesla engineers and executives. Given today’s comments, it seems Tesla is getting the better deal since those on the way out are bad apples. We always jokingly call Apple the “Tesla Graveyard”. No, seriously, it’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. With that said, Musk noted that cars are the “next logical thing” for Apple to move towards and investigate. “But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches”, Musk said.
While Musk (backhandedly) praised Apple for entering the automobile market, he remains skeptical of the company’s ability to produce a vehicle.
The Tesla CEO went on to poke fun at the newly announced Apple Pencil and iPad Pro, saying that innovation in the form of a new pencil or a bigger iPad are “not relevant enough”.
