Elton John pays tribute to George Michael at Las Vegas show
A post-mortem examination into the cause of the sudden death of British pop star George Michael has proved “inconclusive”, United Kingdom police said on Friday. Oxfordshire Coroner’s Office said a post-mortem examination was still to be carried out but could not say when it would take place or whether an inquest would be held.
His solo offerings, such as “I Want Your Sex”, “Faith”, “Father Figure” and “Careless Whisper”, were all No. 1 hits in the United States. His manager, Michael Lippman, said the singer had died of heart failure, according to the BBC.
A source told the Telegraph it is “very common” for further tests to be carried out in unexplained deaths even when a cause of death is suspected.
Sir Elton John treated a tearful crowd to an emotional performance on Wednesday (Dec. 28) in Las Vegas, where he paid tribute to his long-time freind George Michael during a concert in Las Vegas on Wednesday. He added that he was “devastated” and echoed the police sentiment that there had been “no foul play whatsoever”. Before singing George Michael’s face was projected up on a screen and Elton wiped a tear from his eye before saying he wished George was there to sing it with him. Two ceremonies will be held – one for friends and family and another for fans.
Michael died on Christmas day.
Now, a number of A list friends are planning the ultimate tribute to the Wham! star.
The 53-year-old singer was found dead at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on Christmas Day.
Details of the singer’s quiet acts of philanthropy emerged in the hours after his death.
Today, the results of Michael’s autopsy were made public, and unfortunately, it seems we’re no closer to understanding what exactly caused the beloved entertainer to suffer a fatal cardiac event.
