Elvis fans make pilgrimage to his gravesite at Graceland
A new entertainment complex being built across the street from Graceland, Elvis Presley’s former home-turned-museum in Memphis, Tennessee will include a large sound stage for live performances and movie screenings, and an exhibit honouring influential music producer Sam Phillips, officials said on Monday.
Despite pouring rain, Presley fans from around the world are holding candles and walking slowly through the gravesite of the rock “n” roll icon, who died on August 16, 1977.
MEMPHIS, TN-Graceland’s new resort hotel, The Guest House at Graceland, is on schedule to open in late October, with 90% of construction now completed on the structure, according to the company.
The 200,000 square foot Graceland entertainment complex will offer a ‘fully-immersive Elvis and pop culture experience to celebrate the most popular entertainer of all time’.
One of the key attractions of the new complex is expected to be Elvis: The Entertainer, a 20,000-square-foot museum that will celebrate various aspects of Presley’s life and career.
