‘Embarrassing’ if Congress rejects Iran deal: Kerry
These were among the first of a flurry of lawmakers’ tweets in the early minutes of the Iran deal’s life, saying that Obama “paves way for a nuclear Iran and gives Tehran millions to fund their global terror” and that he is “encouraging Iran’s nuclear capabilities”. I say the UN Security Council pass a resolution requiring the Norwegians to wait 15 years before giving Kerry his Nobel Peace Prize.
The deadline for the US Congress to vote on the deal is September 17. America is, in essence, arming the enemy and bolstering its economy so it can continue to attack U.S. allies in the region.
This deal is not only bad; it is very unsafe. That fanaticism has not abated in the slightest, and it is nearly criminally naïve to act as if Iran’s signature on the Vienna deal proves the contrary.
If Iran remains a threat, the deal bars the US from taking any steps to counter it aside from all-out war.
The deal lifts the conventional weapons ban imposed on Iran after five years, insanely allowing Iran to reenter the arms trade.
Perhaps the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran does not feel compelled to indulge in American fairy-tale endings.
Congress has until September 17 to approve or reject the deal.
The implementation of this deal will lead to devastation results in the near term and in the future.
“Imagine stopping them now in the Gulf of Aden” – referring to Iran’s backing for the Houthi insurgency in Yemen – “and stopping them if they had a nuclear weapon”, Biden said.
Monday Netanyahu explained that by keeping US sanctions in force, Congress can limit Iran’s capacity to move beyond the current sanctions regime even after it is canceled. This includes murdering and terrorizing our Christian brothers and sisters. The ruthless men who control Iran have proclaimed for more than 35 years that their overarching priority is victory in a theocratic struggle that will end with raising “the banner of Islam over the White House”, the extermination of Israel, and the end-of-days apocalypse foreseen by the Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini. Not to mention the Iranian imprisonment of American hostages including Pastor Saeed Abendini.
The criticisms centre more on what the treaty doesn’t do than what it does, and on the more existential idea that you don’t make deals with an enemy. North Korea, an impoverished nation, has recently announced that it has a nuclear bomb that can reach the U.S. Imagine what Iran can do with money. This week he beseeched about a thousand Jewish leaders in a phone call on the Iran nuclear deal. There will be no time for sanctions or diplomacy.
America is our country; Israel is the spiritual homeland for Christians and Jews around the world. Let us not forget that, thanks to Iranian generosity, this terrorist group has 100,000 rockets trained on Israeli cities and towns.
“The threat of the secretary of state who, in the past, warned that Israel was in danger of becoming an apartheid state, can not deter us from fulfilling our national duty to oppose this unsafe deal”, Oren said. But this deal is in fact remarkable for what it didn’t have to do to accomplish something of paramount importance to the US and the world. Democrats and Republicans have a history of united legislative cooperation to build a strong US-Israel relationship. This is not a partisan issue. There may be war with Iran, or, more likely, the Europeans, who do favor the deal, will drop their sanctions even if the United States doesn’t – thereby leaving Iran relatively free to pursue its nuclear ambitions.
