Emma Watson plans legal action over leaked photos
The leaked news became known on Tuesday night, after social media users’ tweeted saying that they have access to Seyfried’s nude photos.
Emma Watson is now the focus of almost every other news out there, however, this one she’d hope she could avoid.
Watson is not the only woman celebrity battling a private photo leak this week. Following a speech as the Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women, Watson was also targeted by 4chan users with a site called “Emma You Are Next”, which threatened to release nude photos of the actress.
Amanda Seyfried’s naked photos have leaked online and reportedly show her performing a “sex act” on a man thought to be her ex-boyfriend Justin Long. There are laws that are already made to stop and or prevent these unlawful acts but it would be hard to catch all of them.
Last month, a man in the USA was jailed for nine months for hacking into the online accounts of celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, and stealing private information, including nude videos and photos.
Watson was previously the victim of a similar threat in 2015, but denied that such photos existed.
It’s unclear whether Celeb Jihad and other parties have obliged to the letter and taken down the photos, but it’s only a matter of time before Seyfried takes further legal action if those served with the letter don’t comply. Several of the posts alleged that photos of other women might be leaked as well.
Dozens of photos of stars were posted online as part of the 2014 phishing exercise, including shots of Rihanna, Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst. “No matter how they threaten her or what fake pictures they put out she’s not going to give up, she will not be scared into submission”. Last year, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, was also hacked during the Presidential campaign. He was sentenced to nine months in prison. Collins used a phishing scheme to obtain the more than 500 photos from the celebrities’ personal accounts in iCloud. According to BBC and Daily News, Watson already contacted her representatives.
