Emma Watson says racy photos do not undermine feminism
“Feminism is about giving women choice”, Watson said. To help prove her “point” she posted a picture of an article in the British tabloid The Sun headlined “Beauty & the breasts”. The only people to take issue with the shoot were Hartley-Brewer and journalist Giles Coren, who made some idiotic remarks on Twitter about the size of Watson’s breasts. I think it plays into the objectification of women. The big debate instead is whether Watson is still a good feminist, or is she catering to misogyny with the photo. And, likewise, you don’t have to give up one part of yourself to make way for another. “It’s about equality. I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it!” From Mae West to Madonna to Miley Cyrus arguments have always existed about how women dress and how men respond to that. Emma is interested in the world, she is caring, and though she is active she is also joyous and informed. There is a level of criticism that comes with being an actress…but once you take a stance on something like feminism, that’s a completely different ball game. You can be amusing and a feminist.
