Emma Watson Was Threatened Following Her Empowering Heforshe Speech
Emma Watson has hit the news again! She just got hit with the precise sort of discrimination, hate speech, and sexism that she is struggling against.
The Harry Potter actress, aged 24 years made herself audible this past weekend. Watson made her voice heard by standing up in front of a group at the UN in New York City. She stood up to support the feminist causes and was quickly punished for it. She received loathing comments like, “That feminist *** Emma is going to show the world she is as much of a *** as any woman.”
The well spoken ‘Noah’ actress made headlines on September 20, Saturday. She delivered an expressive and thoughtful speech being the United Nation Women Goodwill Ambassador, while initiating the HeForShe movement. No doubt, Hermione Granger is no more a kid. She proved herself to be an eloquent and educated ambassador to deliver the impassioned speech on gender equality.
The 24 years old star was joined by Forest Whitaker and Kiefer Sutherland. Watson has recently come back from a mission to Uruguay with UN Women. She appeared professional and slim in white attire and her hair was neatly tied into a pony tail. Even though she was a bit nervous, the British star’s debut speech gathered applause as well as standing ovation.
She addressed male listeners saying, “Gender equality is your issue, too. Because to date, I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society. I’ve seen young men suffering from mental illness, unable to ask for help for fear it would make them less of a man… If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won’t feel compelled to be submissive. If men don’t have to control, women won’t have to be controlled.”
The British actress was met with a strong criticism from an online community following the spread of the news of her empowering words. Even though such words are no longer accessible, yet the users created a website with a countdown clock. It threatened Emma that she is the ‘next’. The website also features a snap of the actress crying.
