Emmanuel Adebayor is on Crystal Palace’s radar, admits boss Alan Pardew
Crystal Palace are set to offer former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor a route back to the Premier League, according to reports.
“Adebayor is a player who is there for somebody and it’s a question of whether, like ourselves, looking at it and working out whether we’re the right club for him”, said Pardew.
“He’s a significant player for us, so we don’t see any complications on that”.
Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has urged Premier League clubs to take a punt of free agent Emmanuel Adebayor.
However, the Eagles have struggled for goals of late and Pardew is keen to keep his top performers at the club as they look to recover from a minor stumble in recent weeks.
“We are focusing on that”.
Redknapp had Adebayor at Spurs and the experienced manager, who is now unemployed, has insisted that signing a player of that quality on a free transfer is “a no-brainer”.
“So he (Adebayor) is in that group”. Although we are in a little negative period in terms of our results, our results overall are still strong.
“We have missed chances but we’re not quite as offensively positive as I’d like us to be at times, so we’re trying to make us a bit more of a threat since the last three or four Premier League games”.
Dwight Gayle has been linked with a potential exit to Norwich and Pardew admitted some fringe players could be sold, but he expects his stars will remain.
“We’ve had a lot of calls and messages from agents”. If Palace can get a deal done then they should do and the sooner the better.
