Emmerdale’s Charley Webb: Soap crash stunts were easy for me
Emmerdale star Anthony Quinlan has revealed the most memorable part of the soap’s dramatic helicopter crash storyline for him was his pants splitting open in front of the rest of the cast and crew. At least one major cast member will be killed off.
Over a thousand people have signed a Change.org petition a day since it was launched by the Clutha Trust support group.
“It is completely disrespectful and insensitive to even consider using a similar storyline in order to boost ratings for a soap”, it continues.
Kerry McGhee, whose father Samuel was amongst these killed, is among the many signatories.
He said: “It’s flattering and insulting at the same time because I want to be known for my acting but, “Hey you look good”.
Morag Lennox, from Glasgow, who additionally signed the petition, stated: “We the individuals of Glasgow are nonetheless coming to phrases with the loss on the Clutha”.
However, Ms Oates told a press conference last week that she and other soap bosses carefully considered the storyline in light of the Clutha disaster.
She said: “At lunch we were all still picking bits of rubble out of our ears and noses”.
With the upcoming events being kept under wraps and very few details being revealed, Michael, who plays bad boy Ross Barton, was grilled by This Morning on what is to come. We were really, really careful to make it clear what the cause of the accident is…
The disaster had taken place in November 2013 when more than 100 people had packed into the pub to see Ska band Esperanza.
The crash is caused when Chrissie Sugden (Louise Marwood) sets fire to her husband Robert’s auto in a row over his affair, causing a gas canister to explode, just as the helicopter passes overhead.
A huge explosion erupts from the canisters and hits the helicopter which then crashes spectacularly into the hall, with Debbie, Pete and their guests inside.
The Clutha pub reopened last month in a ceremony which was attended by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Pilot David Traill and his passengers, police officers Kirsty Nelis and Tony Collins, lost their lives.
