‘Emmy-winner’ Jon Hamm to lend voice to ‘Spongebob Squarepants’
When Tina Fey read his name near the end of the ceremony, I actually exhaled a sigh of relief.
What’s the best way for Jon Hamm to celebrate his Emmy victory?
Hamm, who completed rehab earlier this year for alcohol abuse, lost his mother to colon cancer when he was 10.
He has had four other Emmy acting nominations, all for guest roles in a comedy – three for appearances on “30 Rock“, and one this year for Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” starring Ellie Kemper, who was once his drama student at high school.
Most recently, Hamm appeared in the Netflix “Wet Hot American Summer” reboot “First Day of Camp”.
At the end of his acceptance speech on Sunday, he thanked “Jen” – a possible nod to his long-time girlfriend.
The rest of the drama categories were filled with surprises.
The similarities are definitely there with the same impeccable style as Hamm’s Mad Men character. Peter Dinklage took home a Supporting Actor Award that even he thought should have gone to Jonathan Banks.
Nickelodeon has confirmed that instead of playing his iconic “Mad Men” character Don Draper, the 44-year-old actor will play the animated fish version, Don Grouper, according to Variety.
That a show about sex and dragons can win the night’s biggest prize speaks volumes about the television climate. The people I’m sitting next to, the people I’m on a list with – you have to be kidding me! The winners were essentially all deserving for their achievements, but more exciting are the signs of things yet to come.
