Emmys 2015: Host Andy Samberg promises silliness at ceremony
Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg has already shot a couple of pre-tapes for the 67th Emmy Awards and feels good about hosting the show.
This annual salute to the outstanding achievements in national primetime programming airing on network, cable and digital platforms presents top honors during a telecast featuring the medium’s most beloved and provocative entertainers.
And, as it is, it seems a week hardly goes by without an awards show of some kind. “I mean there’s so many amusing comedy people that are going to be there just because they are nominated…so, yeah, we’re definitely going to be incorporating a lot of amusing people and make it a big family party”. The ceremony airs at 7 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 20) on WVUE, and pitchforks and torches will be at the ready around 9:45 p.m.in case Hamm, 16 times an Emmy nominee in multiple categories but never a victor , departs Emmyless for Don Draper. “You want to get your best stuff in and out and try and keep the show moving, because half of the audience sitting in there are people who just didn’t win an award”.
Just if everyone’s laughing at it, I tend to be like, “Let’s go for it”. I’m always nervous until I get the first laugh, then I can relax.
I really hope so. “We have really amusing presenters this year”. The Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday in Los Angeles. Sometimes there’s something you know is amusing in the room but it’s going to push the wrong buttons and you don’t want to put that out there because it’s not worth it if people don’t respond well.
It’s more or less on script, I think we’ll try and play the room as it comes.
“Yeah, right now I am”, Andy told Access Hollywood.
I’m really happy to be back and my good friend Bill Hader is coming in as the captain.
“I wouldn’t try to emulate what they do because everyone has a different shade of comedy but I was able to glean a bit of what works over not”, Samberg said. Exuding his endearing, gee-shucks goofball persona, he’s schooled viewers on the 7 Dirty Words You Can Say at the Emmys, and given us a primer on all the hot Emmy hashtags. So it’s like “Karate Kid 1” into “Karate Kid 2”.
