Emmys: Amy Poehler’s #SmartGirlsAsk Campaign Brought Better Questions to the
While the usual suspects bantered with celebrities about their outfits, the California heat, and their jobs, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls were fighting the good fight on last night’s Emmy red carpet by asking the stars questions that were actually interesting.
The #AskHerMore campaign demands that red carpet reporters stop reducing actresses to questions about who or what they are wearing – and it returned with a bang for the 2015 Emmy Awards.
Here are some of our favorite red carpet responses to Amy Poehler’s #SmartGirlsAsk endeavor.
Orange Is The New Black creator Jenji Kohan answered a question from Katie Couric on how important it is that female TV characters be likeable. “People are not always likeable and that’s okay”, Kohan said. This is why Amy came up with the “Ask Her More” campaign.
Actress Megan Mullaly answered fashion critic Nina Garcia’s question as to what advice she could give to her teenage self. We especially love Jamie Lee Curtis’ answer!
This has already gotta be the raddest red carpet of all time.
“Write. Write, write, write!” Regular users, along with super celebs like Britney Spears, and even political figures like Michelle Obama and Laura Bush tweeted their questions with the hashtag.
