Emotional Geraldo Rivera Breaks Down Describing How His Daughter
Geraldo Rivera is thanking God after his 21-year-old daughter was found safe after the Paris terrorist attacks Friday.
He called the attacks “an outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians”, adding that it was an attack “on humanity”.
Rivera said his daughter, Simone, 21, who is now studying overseas in Paris, heard three explosions and managed to escape amid the panic and chaos.
At least 128 people died in at least six attacks.
NBC, which has been increasingly breaking into regular programming for special news reports, did so again early on in the story (at 4:47 p.m.), with Lester Holt anchoring, joined by correspondent Keir Simmons, according to the network.
A friend of Rivera’s picked Simone and her friend up, and she told him on the air that she wants to come home, but he reminded her the borders are shut down and the Paris airspace is closed.
“You can imagine what it was like for us, as parents, waiting for her to communicate with us”, Rivera emotionally recalled. After four hours, she and her friend finally did, and just as the conversation on Fox was drawing to a close, Shepard Smith broke the news that more terrorists might be on the loose.
Simone was emotional as she later spoke to Fox News on the phone and admitted that she was still shaking.
