Encounter between police, gangster in Telangana

A joint operation by NIA and Telangana police is now underway in the area.News channel NDTV reports that the locality has been cleared off and people living in a radius of 2 km have been asked to evacuate.

One of the terrorist, Gangster Nayeem was involved in killing some top former Maoists. Sources said that Intelligence and police had prior information that Nayeem will be arriving at Millennium Township on Monday morning.

Nayeemuddin (45), also known as Nayeem alias “Balanna”, was wanted for the last several years in cases of murder, killings for gain, extortion and kidnapping and had been evading arrest. She said driver of the auto had escaped and the teams had been deployed to hunt for him.

Nayeemuddin was also suspected to have first helped Sohrabuddin and his wife hide in Hyderabad and when cops came to know of it and pressured him, Nayeemuddin provided details of which bus they had left Hyderabad in. “Another person too tried to flee but collapsed after we opened fire”, the SP said. A former member of the People’s War Group, he was also involved in over 20 murder cases in the area.

Nayeem was an accused in the murder of civil rights activists Purshottam and Niranjan, folk singer Belli Lalitha, surrendered Maoists Sambasivudu and Ramulu, gangster Pattola Goverdhan Reddy and others.

It is not yet clear why the police were chasing Nayeem at this time.

Reportedly, one criminal has been identified as Naeem, a “most-wanted” gangster in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He was allegedly threatening legislators and leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the sources added.
