End of the Trump-Cruz bromance? Not if Cruz has his way
Now Cruz-Trump diplomatic relationship seems to have come to an end.
DES MOINES | Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Friday he believes a victory in the February 1 Iowa precinct caucuses would put him on a path to secure the GOP 2016 presidential nomination in Cleveland next summer. He’s got to be for oil, right?
The Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll, out late Saturday, shows the conservative Cruz with 31 percent support, 10 points ahead of bombastic billionaire Donald Trump, who has 21 percent. The oil companies give him a lot of money.
Cruz, on the other hand, does not get along with everybody, Trump said. “Not a lot come out”.
Johnson’s son Alex also was on board with Trump, noting, “Everyone expected he’d fall off by now, but he hasn’t”.
If the Republican field were narrowed to five candidates – Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Carson and Bush – their order of ranking would not be affected.
Later Friday morning, Cruz sought to calm the waters with his own tweet – a message that Trump later retweeted and spoke favorably of at the rally.
Cruz, a freshman senator from Texas, has inched closer to threatening Trump’s front-runner status in the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll on the GOP race, taking 22% to Trump’s 27%.
“I was against going into Iraq”, Trump told CNN host Jake Tapper in an interview that aired on Sunday.

But Friday night, Trump was done holding back the insults.
“We’re doing really well with the evangelicals”, Trump said.
But for the next 50 days, Cruz and Trump appear to be barreling toward a tough fight for first place in the Hawkeye State.
Trump’s call for a ban on muslims entering the United States in the wake of the San Bernardino massacre sparked a firestorm of criticism, but also support for from many Republican voters.
