England Beats Pakistan in third Twenty20; Super Over Finish
Chris Jordan delivered a dramatic one-over eliminator victory for England in the third Twenty20 worldwide against Pakistan in Sharjah to complete a 3-0 whitewash despite a fighting knock of 75 from Shoaib Malik.
After returning England skipper Morgan had earlier won the toss and made a decision to bat first, Aamer Yamin (1-12) removed Jason Roy lbw first ball.
Joe Root has appeared in ominous touch as he coasted to 32, and past Kevin Pietersen’s seven-year record for the most runs by an England batsman in a calendar year, before he and Moeen fell to Afridi. Pakistan, not for the first time, will just hope to catch a fair wind.
Chris Woakes provided the late fireworks, and James Vince the solidity, as England dug out a total of 154 for eight in the final Twenty20 worldwide against Pakistan.

It has been a long two months, but with a 3-0 sweep in the Twenty20 series following their 3-1 triumph in the one-day internationals, England’s white-ball future has rarely looked brighter.

Bilateral T20 contests tend not to carry major gravitas much of the time, even if they put plenty of bums on seats, but it will be different on this occasion, given the close proximity to the ICC World Twenty20 event in India from March 11.
Tanvir managed to scamper through for a bye to take the match to a Super Over, but Jordan’s incredible effort with the ball helped England finish their tour of the UAE with another win. Malik and Afridi stitched 63-run stand for the sixth wicket keep Pakistan in the hunt.
Needing two runs to win in the final delivery, Tanvir was only able to sneak a bye, bringing the scores to a level and necessitating an one-over eliminator.
Back on the pitch, Vince had an immediate examination of his resilience when he was run out for two in England’s warm-up match against the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi six days ago.
Afridi (29 in 20 balls) smashed three sixes and the 50 of the partnership came in just 29 balls at the end of 16 overs. Finally, Woakes did just that, so effectively that Vince, starved of the strike all night, tucked in for a supporting role as Woakes upstaged him, his in-and-out six against Irfan the highlight of his 37 from 24 balls.
