England Women 64 – 0 Scotland Women: Rout at the Stoop
Scotland have managed just four wins in 47 Twickenham fixtures against the ‘auld enemy, with England victorious in 38 and five drawn.
The victory secured a second successive Six Nations title and extended England’s consecutive wins to 18.
Unstoppable England have drawn level with New Zealand’s 18 consecutive Test wins with the 61-21 demolition.
Jones claimed that Ireland “love spoiling parties” and would value spoiling the England Grand Slam party above all else.
“We know Ireland are going to be hard because, as I said, they got the psychological advantage”.
“Scotland are a passionate team so it was all about fronting up mentally and physically which we did really well”. The way we performed was ruthless.
With Ireland having lost to Wales on Friday, England can not be caught at the top of the table and the fly-half, George Ford, has made it clear that the squad are in no mood to ease up against the Irish on Saturday.
He added: “We’re not just going to lie down and get our bellies tickled, we’re going to go out and try to get some victories”.
“We’ve always felt that England have always had the talent but haven’t always wanted to work hard and they seem to be doing that now under Eddie and actually loving it and funnily enough the harder you work the more results you get”. England are a very good side and are arguably the best team in the world, but for us, very disappointed obviously.
“They have been trying combinations, missing injured players and only once – in the closing stages of the match against Wales – have they had to search for anything like their upper limits”.
Praising the prince’s support for the players, the England manager, Richard Hill, said, “He knows the players well”.
“We’ll enjoy this, but the focus has to shift pretty quickly because we don’t have a two-week turnaround like we did for this game, so we need to be on it from the start”.
“When you win the Six Nations and the Grand Slam like we did, in the next Six Nations the other teams will be more prepared for you and they will come after you more”. We’re frustrated with the way the game unfolded.
The Bath centre said: “That’s what this England team’s capable of”.
“The Six Nations has a been a great tournament and we have seen the depth of player quality in the tournament”, he added.
“The Irish will have an ambush planned, they have 80 minutes to resurrect their season and I can guarantee you Eddie will not consider this a successful season unless they get the job done in Dublin”.
England are one game away from completing back-to-back Grand Slams for the first time in 25 years, but fly-half George Ford is unsure if success this year would be more of an achievement than last year’s.
