Enjoy some early highlights from the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise
But what you have to remember is that many of these cars are classics and don’t drive very often.
It’s the 21st annual Woodward Dream Cruise. Owners will meet at the Kingsley Inn in Bloomfield Hills at 6 p.m. and depart to silently cruise Woodward Avenue at 7 p.m. Representatives from marketing and engineering will attend to talk with customers and show off the next-generation Volt.
General Motors announced on Monday that automotive enthusiasts can see the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro at the Woodward Dream Cruise where Chevrolet will be the presenting sponsor.
Also on Friday, the nearby City of Ferndale will host an emergency vehicle show from 1 to 8 pm, followed by the official Dream Cruise ribbon cutting and a Lights & Sirens cruise.
The 2016 Camaro is part of a large Chevrolet display about midway through the Dream Cruise route in Birmingham, Mich. Chevy will also show the redesigned 2016 Volt, along with the rest of its lineup and a pair of 1955 Bel Airs, a coupe and a convertible, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the classic Chevrolet hot rods. Grab a beer at the Berkley Front or 24 Seconds and catch the parade and some live music.
Seeing as Chevrolet has been in Detroit for more than 100 years, it seems right that it is the brand providing assistance to the classic cars on its home turf.
Kick off the weekend at the Dream Cruise Festival in Pontiac with yet another Classic auto Show, in case you haven’t had enough.
The family-friendly event will run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. August. 15 and will feature more than 40 classic cars of all makes and models, including an extensive collection of DeLoreans. The event officially takes place Saturday, but motorists are already making their way onto M-1.
