Enrique hopes Pedro will stay at Barcelona

“[Pedro] has a release clause of €30m, and we are waiting for someone to make the offer”,

Negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester United for Pedro Rodriguez have reportedly hit a stumbling block over valuation.

The new technical secretary made similar comments about a possible departure for Adriano Correia, according to the team’s official website, while neither player has yet confirmed a future with the team.

“We won’t be as effective without those [Messi and Neymar] up front – that’s obvious – but we will work on being unpredictable. I hope he stays, but the decision is his“.

They won’t be laughing if he says his goodbyes on Wednesday night, and while neither they nor Enrique want to see him go, they will understand his reasons should he choose to do so.

We’ll have to wait for more updates after this supposed meeting takes place this weekend but I fully expect Pedro to eventually join United before the transfer window slams shut, and think he’ll be a huge success here.

With the cloud of disciplinary problems no longer hanging over Luis Suarez, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is expecting an even greater impact from the Uruguay striker this season. “He might leave”.

Earlier in the week, Pedro’s Barcelona teammate Javier Mascherano hinted that the deal was nearly done by saying: “Well, I wish he would stay but this is just a personal opinion”.

Tim Poole: Louis van Gaal wants to be viewed as a good coach but, so far, he’s simply been a man to spend big money and get the minimum requirement of top four. Pedro might have been more in the background, but there is no denying the fact that he was one of the strengths of Barcelona’s very foundation.

Van Gaal, however, is yet to sign a number nine despite having allowed both Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao to leave the club following disappointing seasons.
