Epic trailer for ‘Warcraft’ brings the best-selling game to the big screen
Adding to the already mounting pre-release buzz, Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures just rolled out the first trailer for “Warcraft”. Joining him onstage where actors Toby Kebbell (Durotan), Ben Foster (Medivh), Dominic Cooper (King Llane Wrynn), Clancy Brown (Blackhand), Daniel Wu (Gul’dan) and Paula Pattan (Garona). Its features orcs, humans, werewolves, vampires, golems, trolls, the undead, dwarves, gnomes, high elves, etc. all fighting for dominance in a future that’s maybe a cross between “Lord Of The Rings” and “Star Trek” (or something like that).
I hope I’m wrong about that, and it’s certainly cool to see a few of the Warcraft iconography in live action (if nothing else, the movie definitely looks like World of Warcraft).
Watch the trailer for Warcraft below. The fact that it will be available in 3D only makes Warcraft even more interesting. Players who wish to prepare multiple characters for battle against the Burning Legion also now have the option to purchase additional level-100 character boosts directly through the game at $60 each. The pressure to succeed on that alone would be incredible, but now a few are heaping on the expectation for it to be the first truly great video game movie. Heck, if you’re a really huge Warcraft fan, here’s a few good news.
Earlier this week, we saw a brief teaser for the upcoming Warcraft movie. With World of Warcraft expansions still arriving about every other year and rumors that it might be time for a new Warcraft RTS, Blizzard seems to be well-positioned to keep the franchise alive well into the future. “Warcraft’s world is rich with mystery and drama”, said Allison Hourcade, President of RockLove.
