Episode 10, Dolores Overrides Programming & Conditioning; Wyatt’s Identity
Westworld Season 1 finale will air this Sunday on HBO and Tuesday on Star World Premiere HD. And, as promised, the violent delights of the season had violent ends.
It’s the newest binge-worthy show on television and you’ve probably heard your friends and co-workers talking all about it because Westworld is a brilliant new show.
This episode really ended in a bang. Okay, done with the gun metaphors, now to the point. Second to that are Theresa and Bernard getting sexy, but even then, we only see them in acceptable post-sex-wear, and besides, we can no longer count Bernard in the “human” category. But as unsettling as some of the scenes in “Westworld” are, the show raises theological questions about what it means to be human and what it costs us to sacrifice our humanity for momentary pleasure. But the biggest thing the “Bicameral Mind” gave us was an ending that opened up a new world for our dear Hosts.
The company that oversees Dr. Ford’s resort seems to have little to no control over what actually goes on in the park.
The show’s creators, meanwhile, have promised that most of the questions will be answered in the finale. She’s a top programmer too and Bernard at the end of the day is a host, even if a special one. Her first actual moments “alive” after Arnold brought her online. “I would think there would be only so much one can take, whether you’re human or not”. She is “saved” from being extracted when William steps in and says that she’s traveling with him.
Let’s just say it clearly: until I see a body, I won’t assume anyone is dead. While it’s unclear whether Maeve’s determination to leave Westworld was designed by Ford (Arnold was listed as the person changing her programming), Ford had his own finale planned that sets the entire objective of the park in a new light. We’ll find out who killed Kate (Jordana Brewster) and Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) will get “a devastating surprise”. The one thing William/The Man In Black still doesn’t understand, however, is that Dolores is Wyatt and the center of the maze is a place for the hosts to gain consciousness as Bernard designed it for them – not a deeper level of the game for guests.
Arnold’s daughter would naturally be skeptical of Dr. Ford, since she might blame him for her father’s death, and Dr. Ford would do everything he could to make sure Bernard had nothing to do with her. I didn’t guess why she and Teddy killed all those hosts, though. He wants to go home like, yesterday. After this episode, we have to we are very patient since Season 2 Westworld should not happen before 2018. There are lots we can move forward from the expected into the unknown.
In Episode 8, Charlotte convinces Lee to try yet again to smuggle code out of the park, this time inside Dolores’ decommissioned father from the first episode. She gets off the train and heads back up the escalator to Westworld.
If you’re discontent with sitting back and passively consuming the entertainment, there’s a lot of fun to be had in blithely pointing your finger at the screen and going, That guy’s a robot, and feeling good as hell when, in fact, that guy turns out to be a robot.
After airing nine thrilling episodes, Westworld will air its season 1 finale on 4 December promising to unfold many more mysteries before the science fiction series return with the next season.
It sounds like we might just have a promising storyline for season 2.
