EPL 2015: Newcastle keeper Krul out for season with knee injury
Newcastle are struggling in the Premier League and are sat rock bottom in the table with only three points from their opening eight games.
Whilst the majority of the squad have had their loyalty to The Magpies’ questioned in recent memory, Krul has demonstrated his allegiance and reliability as Newcastle’s most consistent player of the past five years.
The Dutchman sustained his injury during the Netherlands’ 2-1 victory over Kazahstan on Saturday and is not expected to regain full fitness until next August.
The extent of Krul’s injury will not be known until he has undergone scans, but the early signs appeared troubling for his club.
“I’ve seen plenty of players go through this and come back just as strong, so we have no worries or concerns about what Tim will go through”. “Thanks for all the get well wishes”.
Rob Elliot is likely to take Krul’s place in the starting lineup this season.
Newcastle has called back Freddie Woodman from his loan at Crawley Town.
Krul is now facing a season-long spell on the sidelines after injuring his cruciate ligament whilst playing for the Netherlands against Kazakhstan last week.
Newcastle United have already stated that Krul will return to Tyneside for his treatment and rehabilitation.
The club have won 36% of their games with Krul compared to 33% of games without him.
“My recovery and hard work starts now to fully recover”.
He further went on to admit his devastation stems from the fact he I “can’t play a part on the pitch” and “help the team” in turning their below par season around.
The former Barcelona “keeper has been ‘exiled” at his current club, with reports of him being denied a club locker and forced to train with the youth team.
