EPL 2015: West Ham striker Diafra Sakho arrested over domestic assault suspicion
West Ham forward Diafra Sakho was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault days before his side’s victory of Arsenal it has emerged.
The striker has been bailed until late September after being detained on “suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and malicious communication”.
The Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and The Sun all report that police held the player on suspicion of attacking a girlfriend in East London.
Sakho, who has scored 10 goals for the Hammers since joining last year, has been bailed until September.
It is unclear if he will be available for selection at home to Leicester City this weekend.
The Senegal global started West Ham’s 2-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday and proved a real success in his debut season at Upton Park.
He previously played for the French club FC Metz. They said, “Diafra Sakho and West Ham United vigorously deny that they have acted in breach of Federation Internationale de Football Association regulations”.
If West Ham lost this particular case – which they didn’t – he’d have been banned for a few of the games that were then-upcoming for the London club.
