Eric Decker out today with knee injury
Jets wide receiver Eric Decker was described this week as a game-time decision with a knee injury, but the decision has already been made to sit him.
Decker will miss today with a PCL sprain in his knee, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
That’s a blow to the Jets in today’s game against the Eagles. Decker has been a solid No. 2 option this season across the field from Brandon Marshall, and without Decker the Jets will need more from Jeremy Kerley, who hasn’t caught a pass yet this year
While many anxious that Marshall could be in decline, he is clearly the best receiver the Jets have had in ages. In two quick weeks the tides have turned for the two teams, and the Jets are now expected by some to walk over Philadelphia, though Colon says the Jets don’t have a cocky attitude that would lead them to overlook the Eagles. Zach Ertz hasn’t gotten going either. If you won’t be at the game remember that the game will be televised on Fox as opposed to the usual CBS in the tristate area. Fantasy owners should probably look to their bench to find a replacement.
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a jaw injury and practiced in full on Wednesday. He had 167 receptions for 2,102 yards and 20 touchdowns during his time in New England. He needs to be smart with the fair catches he makes, and he needs to take a chance every once in a while. Though Sanchez is Bradford’s backup, he’s an injury or possibly an ineffective half away from playing against the Jets. Granted, Benjamin and Moncrief are better deep threats than anyone the Eagles have.
The top five highest paid players, none of which are Eagles, are all franchise-caliber quarterbacks, which is telling.
Logan Mankins’s nine-year tenure with the Patriots was sandwiched by Super Bowls, as he arrived in New England in 2005 and departed before the 2014 season. Sam Bradford has already thrown four interceptions.
It will be a challenge for outside receivers Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff, and Riley Cooper against the Jets’ cornerbacks, but the Eagles like their matchups on the inside. It’s much more of a challenge than Atlanta or Dallas posed. Dave, do you give the Eagles any chance in this one? So, during the free agency signing period, ex-Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell put pen-to-paper on a $63-millon contract. Marshall can’t match Jones’ speed, but at 6-4/230, he’s an even bigger target. He has been huge for the Jets so far, with 13 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He also has TDs in each game. Right now, the Eagles are averaging slightly more than 30 seconds between plays.
The Eagles must also be aware of the deep ball when Chris Maragos is the deep safety. If they come into this game thinking that this is an easy win they are going to lose. He played in the game, rushing for 57 yards on 14 carries, but he “irritated” an area in the same leg.
Ivory had been dealing with a groin injury entering the Indianapolis game.
Second-string RB Bilal Powell can hurt you in the pass game as well as the run game. Fitzpatrick is completing 63.8 percent of his passes.
Bradford is a notch better than Ryan Fitzpatrick, DeMarco Murray is better than Chris Ivory, Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham are better than Calvin Pace and Quinton Coples.
More uncertainty is surrounding Decker return for weekend’s game. While he lacks the frame to take a pounding on a regular basis, Kelly may go to Sproles out of desperation.
Nate Davis: Which National Football League teams with 2-0 records are built to last into the playoffs?
Philadelphia Inquirer: The Eagles offensive line is looking to eliminate mistakes. The Eagles D/ST will not be a recommended fantasy option in Week 3 on the road at MetLife Stadium. September. He said the National Football League cleared him to wear a sun-shielding visor when he plays.
One of the biggest criticisms of the Eagles defense a year ago was the team’s secondary.
While fully acknowledging that the matchup is very bad for the Eagles, I see them bouncing back after hitting rock bottom last week.
Kelly is an offensive mastermind. We’re here to break down just why tomorrow may not be the day the Jets get their historic first win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
