Eric Swalwell: Why I will vote for the Iran nuclear agreement
CHQ endorsed Congressman and candidate for Florida’s Republican Senate nomination to succeed Marco Rubio joined with Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton (also endorsed by CHQ) to write a powerful indictment of Obama’s nuclear weapons deal with Iran that we covered recently: You can read that article through this link. But at the end of the day, despite some positive elements in the deal, the totality compelled me to oppose it…
People who think negotiators can go back to the drawing board and improve on what has been agreed are unrealistic, Kerry said. Some Democratic lawmakers have already said they favor the deal while others, including Sen.
Levin and former Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California.
Under a deal negotiated between the White House and Congress, if a disapproval resolution stands, Obama will be barred from waiving U.S. sanctions as part of U.S. responsibility under the agreement.
By legislation it adopted in May, Congress could kill the deal.
Welch says the bottom line is that the United States can take military action against Iran if Iran tries to develop a nuclear weapon. What is remarkable about the Iran deal controversy, however, is that Jews are more united – in opposition – than on most other issues.
President Barack Obama has demonized opponents of his nuclear agreement with Iran, calling them warmongers.

In the past Obama urged critics to quell their voices until they knew the details.
Lowey continued, “In my judgment, sufficient safeguards are not in place to address the risks associated with the agreement“. “Sanctions are what brought Iran to the table, and they depend on large-scale worldwide cooperation and compliance”.
“On the negative side, the agreement allows Iran to retain a larger enrichment program than I am comfortable with and most of the critical limits expire in 15 years“. “That is why I believe the JCPOA is in the best interest of the United States, Israel, and the world and will support it when it comes before the Congress for a vote“.
Rep. Deutch echoed these same concerns. “We don’t subscribe to that notion, but we are skeptical that, should Iran attempt to consider moving to a nuclear weapon, we could deter them from pursuing it through economic sanctions alone”.
Officials in the Obama administration meanwhile have said that the president could use executive authority to stop “many U.S. sanctions on Iran” if Congress moves to thwart the deal in its current iteration, reported Politico. Although the United States is still regarded by Iran as the “Great Satan”, the U.S. has less to fear from an Iranian nuclear arsenal than does Israel.
Speaking at a news conference during an annual congressional trip to Israel, he said there’s “very [much] a possibility” that there could be enough votes for the override, which the administration has said would sink the deal.
