Erica Maison captures moment her transgender daughter gets hormone therapy drugs

Sadly, in fifth grade Corey was bullied to the point where Erica had to homeschool her. Sometime after that, Corey and her mom happened to watch a video YouTuber Jazz Jennings which changed her life.

“I was trying to think of the best way to tell her that the day she had been waiting two and a half years for was finally here”.

Arriving home from school, Erica surprised her daughter with the oestrogen pills.

In the video you can see the moment Corey realizes what’s inside the box.

‘Today after waiting 2 1/2 years she FINALLY got her estrogen.

“I could tell she really had no idea what was happening”, Erica said.

“SORRY I had to stop recording because we were both blubbering sobbing fools”.

“I just assumed she might be gay”, she told BuzzFeed.

‘We were both crying and shaking.

According to her mother, Corey’s typical day involves typical 14-year-old activities like riding her penny skateboard, playing Call of Duty on her Xbox, and obsessing over makeup. When even well intended parents still project their own baggage about gender identity on their kids, Maison has been the biggest supporter of her daughter Corey’s transition.

‘I want people to watch this video, and see the raw emotion of a transgender child that can finally live her life the way she feels inside, ‘ Erica noted.

Corey was given a puberty-suppressing implant just a few months later.

She found Corey a therapist that specialized in supporting transgender children and their families through the process.

“I want them to open their hearts and accept their children for who they are, not for what gender they do or do not identify with”.
